Benchmark Factory for Databases

Minimize the Risks of Database Change

Benchmark Factory® for Databases is a database performance testing tool that allows you to conduct database workload replay, industry-standard benchmark testing, and scalability testing. It enables you to deploy changes to your database environment with confidence by reducing the risks associated with patches, upgrades, migrations, and adjustments to virtual machine configurations through the incorporated load testing tools. Benchmark Factory is a more flexible, simpler, and less expensive alternative to Oracle Real Application Testing. Plus, it's proprietary workload capture and replay supports Oracle and SQL Server databases. With this workload replay and scheduling software, you can eliminate slow SQL database performance and dramatically simplify high performance database management, as well as do scalability testing.

Whether you’re a database architect, developer or DBA, Benchmark Factory can help you:

  • Replay production workload in a test or development environment to simulate production scenarios and determine system throughput or find database breaking points (Oracle & SQL Server only)
  • Understand future performance problems and conduct "what-if" analyses
  • Make changes with confidence with a wizard-driven workflow
  • Validate performance and scalability improvements through reportable metrics
  • Capture workload subsets, as opposed to the entire database workload (unique to Quest)
  • Perform load tests on SQL scripts, PL/SQL, T-SQL code, and stored procedures under different concurrent user configurations
  • Simulate real database application workloads using industry-standard benchmarks (AS3AP, Scalable Hardware, TPC-B, TPC-C, TPC-D, TPC-H, and TPC-E)

Benchmark Factory can also help your organization:

  • Reduce the risk of costly downtime and inefficient performance
  • Eliminate the costs of outsourcing workload testing by automating the database-testing process
  • Have greater confidence in the deployment of database changes
  • Integrate with other Quest tools, like Toad® for Oracle, to support development and best practices

Before installing Benchmark for Databases , ensure your system meets the following minimum hardware and software requirements:
