Vincent C. (Vinny) Smith – Executive Chairman 

Due to his drive, team spirit, enthusiasm and motivation, Vinny Smith has been dubbed the “archetypal athlete of the business game” by a leading trade magazine. As executive chairman, Smith is responsible for leading the strategic direction of Quest. 

Smith served as the company's chief executive officer from 1998 until October 2008. Through his leadership, Quest has become one of the premier enterprise systems management companies in the software industry. When Smith joined Quest as an investor and director in 1995, the company had 25 employees and $4 million in revenue. Today Quest has approximately 3,400 employees in offices around the world and $695 million in revenue.

Prior to joining Quest Software, Smith co-founded Patrol Software. He personally financed the company and ran North American operations, which included worldwide sales and marketing. After BMC Software acquired Patrol Software in 1994, Smith worked with BMC for one year to assist with the transition from a mainframe-oriented company to an open systems solution provider.

Before Patrol Software, Smith rose through the ranks at Oracle Corporation for five years in a variety of sales and marketing positions. While at Oracle, Smith worked under Tom Siebel, where he managed over 60 sales representatives and the accompanying technical and operations staff required for the success of the division. In 1986, he graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in computer science and minor in economics.

Douglas F. Garn – Chief Executive Officer and President

Doug GarnAs chief executive officer and president, Doug Garn is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Quest Software. 

Garn was recently appointed to the position of CEO after serving as the company's president since 2005. As president, he was responsible for driving the day-to-day product and sales operational areas, including directing the operations and strategies of the worldwide sales, marketing and product teams. Previous to that, Garn served as vice president of worldwide sales, responsible for driving the company's worldwide sales operations and strategies. He has been a primary contributor to the company's double-digit growth. Garn joined Quest in 1998 from Peregrine Systems, Inc. where he was vice president of North American Sales.

Prior to joining Peregrine Systems in 1996, Garn was vice president of sales for Syntax, Inc., a networking software company. Garn also served as a regional sales manager for BMC from 1993 to 1995. He holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing from University of Southern California.

Scott Davidson - Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Scott DavidsonAs chief financial officer (CFO) Scott Davidson is responsible for Quest Software's global financial strategy and day-to-day financial and accounting operations. Davidson joined Quest as treasurer in 2002, with responsibility for worldwide treasury and investment operations, SEC reporting, investor relations, risk management, purchase accounting and corporate development.

Between 1997 and 2001, Davidson was director of corporate treasury at Citrix Systems. From 1996 to 1997, he was manager of pricing for telecommunication services with Precision Response Corporation, which was acquired by InterActive Corporation. Prior to that, Davidson was with the U.S. Department of Treasury and held the position of National Bank Examiner for the Southeastern region in the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. Davidson holds a bachelor's degree in Finance from Florida Atlantic University and an MBA from the University of Miami.

Steve Dickson - Senior Vice President of Product Management

Steve Dickson is Quest Software’s senior vice president of Product Management, responsible for the company’s Business Units. Prior to this role, Dickson served as vice president and general manager of the company’s Windows Business Unit. He also has held various sales management positions within Quest, including vice president of sales, western region, and vice president of sales, Microsoft Solutions. Dickson has been with Quest Software since 1998. Before joining Quest, he was regional manager for Air Liquide, a supplier of industrial and medical gases. Dickson holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Weber State University.

Alan Fudge - Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Alan Fudge is Quest Software’s newly appointed senior vice president of worldwide sales, responsible for the company’s sales force located in 27 countries across the globe. Fudge brings to Quest more than 20 years of experience in executive management and sales operations, including both direct and channel sales. Prior to joining Quest, he served as president and CEO of GuardianEdge Technologies, Inc., a leader in enterprise endpoint data protection, where he was responsible for leading the company’s strategic direction while overseeing day-to-day operations. Fudge also has held executive leadership positions with VMWare, BEA Systems, Objectspace and IBM. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from St. Edward’s University in Texas.

Paul Garver - Vice President, Public Sector

Paul GarverPaul Garver is responsible for Quest Software's public sector division, covering the U.S. federal government, state and local governments, and higher education in all 50 states. In this role, he also oversees business and channel development, product and marketing functions, and systems consulting. Prior to joining Quest, Garver held a number of positions in sales and marketing focused on the government marketplace, with companies including Information Builders, Attachmate Corporation and IBM. Garver is an active member of a number of industry and government professional IT associations including GITEC, USO, AFCEA and ITAA. Garver was named one of Federal Computer Week's Federal 100 in 2005 and is also the recipient of IPIC's 2001, 2002 and 2005 President's Award for Superior Support and Contribution. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Maryland.

Steve Kahan - Vice President, Global Marketing

Steve KahanSteve Kahan is Quest’s newly appointed vice president of global marketing. Kahan is responsible for leading the company’s marketing strategies and initiatives worldwide. Kahan joins Quest with more than 20 years of experience leading marketing teams in systems management organizations. Most recently, he served as vice president of marketing and product management at The Planet, where he was responsible for the company’s overall leadership and strategic marketing direction. He also held senior leadership roles at BindView and NetIQ. Kahan holds a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.

Carl Eberling - Vice President and General Manager, Virtualization and Monitoring Business Unit

Carl EberlingCarl Eberling recently joined Quest as vice president and general manager of the company’s virtualization and monitoring business unit. Eberling is responsible for leading and strengthening Quest’s position in the virtualization and monitoring market. Eberling is an IT industry veteran. Most recently, he served as the senior vice president of IT at Kaiser Permanente. He also has held senior-level IT management positions at Verizon Wireless, Pacific Bell, Cellular One and AirTouch Communications. Eberling holds a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and completed his graduate studies at University of California, Berkeley, and Golden Gate University. He also served in the U.S Marine Corps.

Kim Kinnison - Vice President, Worldwide Support

Kim KinnisonAs Quest Software's vice president of worldwide support, Kim Kinnison is responsible for all aspects of support worldwide. Prior to assuming this role in 1999, Kinnison was the director and manager of technical support. From 2001 to 2004, she took on the additional role of vice president of human resources with responsibility for the company's personnel and staffing infrastructures, and also served as vice president of Information Services from 1999 to 2001. Kinnison joined Quest in 1991 as a technical support engineer and prior to Quest held positions as a systems programmer at Hughes Aircraft and instructor/consultant at Hewlett Packard. She has a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Carol Fawcett – Vice President, Global Information Services

Carol FawcettCarol Fawcett serves as Quest Software’s vice president of Global Information Services, responsible for aligning the company’s global business needs and strategy with appropriate technology and process plans. Fawcett organizes and directs the Quest’s worldwide IS activities and provides critical feedback to the business, as well as to Sales, external customers and prospects on the company’s experiences using Quest products. Fawcett joined Quest in 2000 as the director of IS, responsible for the company’s implementation efforts around Oracle and all other enterprise applications, such as Siebel and Clarify. Prior to joining Quest, she served as director of IS at Western Digital. Fawcett has 25 years of experience with financial, manufacturing, CRM, HR/Payroll, marketing and sales force automation applications. She has also directed efforts reaching successful companywide certifications with both ISO900x and Sarbanes-Oxley programs. Fawcett holds a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from National University in San Diego, California.
