Maximum Performance Through SQL Performance Tuning and SQL Validation

Quest SQL Optimizer for Oracle proactively identifies potential performance issues and automates SQL optimization by scanning and analyzing running SQL statements, PL/SQL, or other source code. It explores every possible way of improving SQL performance tuning. If you already have the best-performing SQL, it proves it. And if you don’t, it provides you with the best-performing SQL alternative. Plus, it offers index optimization and plan-change analysis.

  • Batch Optimization – Identifies problematic SQL, rewrites statements, locates the fastest alternative, and generates optimized code automatically.
  • SQL Scanner – Identifies SQL statements from source code and database objects without requiring statement execution. It analyzes and categorizes them according to suspected levels of performance problems.
  • SGA Inspector – Pinpoints resource-intensive SQL statements from Oracle’s system global area (SGA). Capture previously executed and currently running statements and specify criteria to retrieve SQL statements and their statistics.
  • Optimizer – Automates SQL statement optimization by analyzing the original SQL statement and using artificial intelligence to exhaustively rewrite the syntax and apply the Oracle optimization hints. It produces a list of semantically equivalent and syntactically correct SQL statements so you can test run them and find the best ones for your environment.
  • Deploy Outline – Saves an Oracle stored outline for a specific SQL statement, which Oracle uses when executing the SQL statement to tune statements that don’t have source code changes.       
  • Index Expert – Determine the best indexes for your SQL statements by analyzing the syntax and the relation between tables. It then generates virtual index alternatives. Compare index alternatives and virtual execution plans so you can decide whether to execute them, create the indexes, or time the SQL statement under different index scenarios. You can also perform a virtual index impact analysis.   
  • Global Indexing – Provides index recommendations for a SQL workload. Submit multiple SQL statements, including execution statistics. Get a recommendation for a set of indexes (including virtual execution plan) that could improve performance for all analyzed SQL statements.
  • Impact Analyzer – Tracks execution plans and Oracle cost changes for SQL statements. Estimate the impact on SQL statement performance due to database changes. Simulate database scenarios to predict change impact.

Note: If you have only .NET Framework 3.0, 4.0 or later installed, you must also install .NET Framework 2.0 and the service pack or you must install .NET Framework 3.5 (which includes .NET 2.0 with Service Pack 1).
